Although prior to now all of my sex toy reviews have been for Eden Fantasys, I was more than thrilled to get accepted to review for the kind folks over at Good Vibrations. If you haven't shopped at Good Vibes before, it's worth taking a look. Not only does the site have a handful of free guides on sexual health, education, and toy care, they also carry a good selection of adult toys and media. I was allowed to peruse this selection for a toy of my choosing to review, and it's no surprise that I chose Lelo's Mia. A little bird told me she happens to be quite a popular selection, but seeing as she had been sitting on my wish list since I first laid eyes on her, I couldn't pass the opportunity up.

Good Vibes has their review program under control, and after a short week of quick correspondence with their program manager, Mia arrived at my door just as quickly as the emails promised me. Of course, I was snuggled in bed when the mailman came a-knocking, and it was just my luck that the boyfriend had just got home from touring with his band and was there (and awake!) to answer the door for me. He brought the package back to me in bed, turned on my lamp, and with that twinkle of curiosity akin to a kid's on Christmas, he asked, "What is it?"

I had already told him I'd be expecting a few products to review in the mail, all of which he happily agreed to do whatever he could to help me try them out. He opened the box for me, dug around in the foam peanuts, and produced the purple box the encased our new Mia. Inside the purple cardboard was the beautiful black box that comes hand in hand with Lelo products (this I know thanks to Epiphora's Bo video), and sheathed inside said fancy box was Mia herself.

Lelo does not stop short after the fancy packaging of their products. Underneath the black, semi-translucent plastic tray holding Mia was all of her friends: a one year warranty, an instruction manual in five languages, a white satin pouch, and, drumroll – a USB connector cord. There are many reasons why Mia attracted me, but none more so than the fact that it recharges via your computer's USB port. Say goodbye to batteries and charging docks; Mia can recharge wherever your laptop can go. This was enough to get me out of bed. I wanted to charge my new toy up and put her to work ASAP.

Oh but wait. The kind folks at Lelo did that for me – Mia arrived already charged. My boyfriend climbed in bed with me since there was no longer any reason for either of us to be out of it. Let me dip into a little bit of cosmetic gushing. I chose the "deep rose" version of Mia, which is somewhere between magenta and purple. This color is absolutely gorgeous in person, and was another one of those things that attracted me to Mia. The main body of Mia is as long as my middle finger, growing an extra half a thumb when the angled cap is in place. When the cap is removed, Mia's USB is exposed. You can plug her directly into your computer, or you can plug her into the USB cord which will then plug into your computer's port. When Mia's cap is off, she doesn't function. But as soon as you place it back on (it is held on by suction, no screwing or twisting necessary), she is ready to go.

With only a slightly raised plus and minus sign to cycle through Mia's various settings, I was a little confused at first as to how I could get her to perform. Holding down the plus button gradually accelerates Mia from bottom to top speed, which, for a little vibrator, is much more powerful than I expected. The vibrations are not silent, but aren't the loudest out there – they are accompanied by a high-pitched hum which is almost soothing rather than irritating. If the toy can't be silent, at least it sounds like it is a high-tech, futuristic mechanism powered up for your pleasure. Back to that confusion. I would have been content if speed cycling was all Mia had to offer, but the box promised me more, and the manual quickly delivered.

Once Mia is at full speed, pressing and holding the plus button again shifted into pulsation mode. Another press quickens the pulsations, and yet another sends them into a fast flicking pulse. One last press puts Mia back at her regular steady vibration level, or you can return to steady vibration by pushing the minus button. For my first tryout, I decided to stick to the steady vibration mode.

Mia is absolutely the smoothest vibrator I own. She felt great against my skin as I swirled her tip around my clitoris and along my vulva. I kept her on low to arose myself into that age-old feeling of desire which my body has been missing for a while. Due to the medication I am on, orgasming and arousal have been very difficult for me lately. This is frustrating, because I still get turned on as much as ever, but the need to push it over the edge and the ability to do so have been out of reach. Though I didn't want to put too much pressure on Mia, I was secretly hoping that she would be able to help me catch my elusive orgasm.

The smooth, gentle vibrations were enough to get me stimulated, and I pressed the plus button to step her up to a mid-range setting. Finally, a gasp – my hips began to jerk in rhythm with the little vibrator, craving more of what she could give me. Burying Mia's tip against my clit, I continued a slight swirling motion which felt amazing. The minutes passed and I began to get discouraged. Unfortunately, the boy at my side fell asleep while I was at this, and missed the first orgasm I'd had in two weeks. But, having won my seal of approval, this first experience would certainly not be Mia's last with me. Though she is small and discreet, she is powerful enough to win my body over. There's nothing I don't like about this vibe – even the bluish white LED light which signifies whether or not Mia is on or charging is different and attractive. At times, I felt that I needed Mia to be a little bit stronger to reach orgasm, but, one must understand that my body is a little bit more picky than most right now. It says a lot that Mia could break through my medication's side effects and give me an orgasm at all, and she is clearly my favorite now when I need help to reach my climax.
